Fashion trend setter the Duchess of Cambridge wore a stunning  yellow dress with white panels on her recent trip to Australia.  Teh gorgeous  Roksanda Ilincic custom made dress was worn by Kate in Sidney while on her tour.  Since the pictures of the Duchess went world wide eBay UK has seen a 95%* rise in sales of yellow dresses.  Throughout the tour Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge when spotted wearing  varying shades of yellow /citrus tones during The Royal Couple’s 19-day Australian and New Zealand tour.   Both eBay and Etsy sellers are selling dresses similar to the outfits Kate wore on the The Royal Tour using listing headings like ” ROYAL TOUR 2014: Yellow Dress” or ” dress seen on duchess of cambridge or kate middleton.

The surge in sales of yellow dresses is not just from Roksanda Ilincic sighting.   Four days after she stepped out in the slim Ilincic dress,  Kate was wore a buttery yellow dress for her Easter Sunday outing at Taronga Zoo with William and George. As soon as the photos went out over the wire of  Kate in her Easter yellow dress , women started searching for her dress.  Those searches lead to the total sales of yellow dresses on the UK site to almost double during this period.

The “Kate Effect” is in full swing, as shoppers head to eBay to buy items inspired by England’s favorite queen-to-be. Sales of items Kate wears often, like wrap dresses, cork wedge sandals and nautical striped shirts are up year over year by 48%, 43% and 35%, respectively.*  Those are huge increase and show the Duchess’s substantial influence on fashion. Kate’s favorite designers and brands have experience surges in sales too with sales of women’s clothing by Zara, Issa London and Alexander McQueen up by 51%, 22% and 16%, respectively on eBay year over year.*****  Check out the below sketches for style tips inspired by some of our favorite Kate looks.  To help eBay customers find Kate-inspired pieces eBay has even launched a new fashion collection, aptly named Grand Duchess. This collection aggregates items for sale by eBay sellers of pieces Kate has worn from her ZARA necklace to her Stuart Wietzman cork- wedge shoes.

eBay’s look at the Duchess of Cambridge’s often emulated style.

Everything the Duchess wears is a sell-out.   The black and white Tory Burch Paulina dress she wore in New Zealand sold out immediately. So did her DVF wrap dress. When dresses sell-out, it’s only natural that fashionistas will turn to individual eBay sellers to find those items rather than the designers’ stores.   In addition,  according to eBay UK data, sales of both floral (+94%)*** and green dresses (+88%)** spiked hugely overnight from the moment Kate was pictured wearing these styles during the tour. Women see the photos and start searching for similar items that are affordable or are the exact designer item.

eBay spokesperson, Laura Wilkinson-Rea comments, “The Duchess of Cambridge’s wardrobe undeniably affects what’s in when it comes to style-hunting on eBay, with sales consistently skyrocketing after she is photographed in the latest trend. From dresses to must-have accessories, there are loads of brand new items on eBay.co.uk for your yellow fashion fix.”  Have any of you been searching eBay for the Duchess of Cambridge’s dresses from the tour or before?   I regularly shop eBay for ISSA dresses, popularized by the Duchess since her engagement.  Using the Duchess of Cambridge or Kate Middleton in the sales listing for an eBay item can help sellers boost sells enormously, and help buyers get hard to find fashion items.
