Vintage Chanel Find: Charity Auctions Offer Good Deals

Yesterday, I attended a charity event that offered silent auctions as part of their giving campaign. To my surprise, one of the items on the auction was this gorgeous and authentic Chanel red leather quilted bag with chain strap. Guess who won this little darling? Well, that word be me. When The Recessionista is on the scene, no Chanel is safe. My winning bid was $165.00. Think about that price.  That is the cost of a few poorly made items from say something like the Jason Wu collection for Target. You don’t need to be an economist to know that pre-owned Chanel is a better investment than the latest big box store fashions.  The moral of the story is, you can find luxury items for less in unexpected places.  Over the years, I have bought some wonderful pre-loved Chanel items at charity events, thrift stores and even on eBay (although you must be careful of fakes.) If you love luxury as I do, but can only afford the best for less, do check out the local charity auctions and events in your area. In Los Angeles, Purses from the Heart charity event is coming up this week on May 24th.  Try a simple Google search in your area to see what events are going on and coming up.  The savings are out there!
