The Recessionista Reviews: Lands’ End Supima Fine Gauge Cardigan

Lands’ End recently offered me the chance to review their Supima Fine Gauge cotton cardigan.  I haven’t ordered anything from Lands’ End in a few years, so I jumped at the chance to check out what’s new.  My mother is a heavy duty  Lands’ End catalog shopper and buys all her swimsuits and much of her summer wear there.  Me, not so much. Not because they don’t have good looking things, but because I just haven’t been paying attention to what they are doing on a regular basis. That’s because Lands’ End is not at the fore front of fashion trends. This brand does something different, and it’s not about the hip and trendy. They offer quality, reliable basics and that’s what the Supima Fine Gauge Cardigan is.  I’ve worn the sweater out a few times now to test drive it.  Its comfortable, but perfect for warmer   weather when you need something in the evening.  You can throw it on with jeans or khakis and a shirt for a comfortable preppy look or dress it up over a little black dress or summer shift dress.

Supima is a very fine blend cotton knit, and that is reflected in the price tag of $49.00 US.This is not a lower-grade $19.99 cardigan that you can buy at Target or Walmart, or even H&M. It is a finer blend of cotton knit, and it’s a bit more durable for the price.  It also comes in 12 bright and appealing summer colors.   The sweater is very feminine with fine little shell buttons and a rounded neckline/collar. The sleeves are long and the length hits just below the waist and above the hips.  There’s nothing super trendy about it, but its a style that you can invest in that will be around forever. And with a Pima Cotton blend, it’s possible that this will be a mainstay in your closet for years, as unlike many disposable cheaply made fashions today, this one is built to last.  I’m not the only one who thinks this sweater is a good value, 66% of Lands’ End customers who reviewed it gave it a thumbs up.  If you’re looking for a good, comfortable sweater, check this one out.   It doesn’t disappoint.   To save a little bit, just run a Google search for “Lands End Coupon.” You’ll find several options to help you bring the price down a bit.

Disclosure Note: Lands’ End provided me a free evaluation copy of the sweater, however, I was not paid for this review and the opinions expressed here are my own.
