Prabal Gurung Fashions from Spring 2012 Runway show at New York Fashion Week.

Designer Prabal Gurung has inked a deal with specialty size retailer Lane Bryant to bring his fashions to Lane Bryant stores for two collections.  With the “plus-size” market becoming the biggest growth area in fashion, it’s no surprise to see more designers partnering with Lane Bryant.  Plus-size clothes used to be dismissed as lackluster and even ugly, but that’s no longer the case.  With market demand for specialty sizes on the increase, and models like Ashley Graham showing plus fashions can be sexy, plus-sizes fashions are just as attractive as other apparel collections.

Mr. Gurung’s collection will follow the current Lane Bryant collaboration with Christian Siriano.  Fashion site Racked reports that “Gurung’s first collection will land in March in 180 Lane Bryant stores and online, and prices will range from $48 for a T-shirt to $398 for a leather jacket.”

I haven’t seen low-priced Prabal Gurung since his Target collaboration several years ago, so this is something to look forward to.  I hope he makes some of his fantastic prints and embroidered dresses for Lane Bryant.  No word yet on what the size range will be, but I hope that there will be a range of sizes similar to the Christian Siriano collection where sizes started at size 10 for some garments.
