If you’re looking to personify cool for Spring/Summer 2013, then check out Mara Hoffman’s creations.  The designer showed at New York Fashion Week last weekend to a standing room only crowd of celebrities (Lil’ Kim), buyers, press and bloggers. The inspiration for this season’s collection was the Hawaiian word “Aloha.”  Aloha means peace, affection and sometimes compassion. That spirit was appropriate for the garments that came down the runway.  Ms. Hoffman’s billowing maxi dresses with exquisite prints are impossibly lovely and seem to breathe with easy movement.

Think Island Girl with this collection of swimsuits, Bermuda surf shorts, long dresses and even a long appliqued skirt worn with a cropped bustier top— the new chic hula skirt. “Each season, my goal is to take the audience on a journey and express the transcendent feeling of love & positivity.,” says Ms. Hoffman. “This is what we wish to be known for and want to capture in our shows; always celebrating beauty and having a little fun with it.”

I look forward to seeing this collection in stores for the Spring season, and I’ll definitely be putting the long dresses on my sales alert list.
