Happy Sunday readers! It seems like every retailer and website on the planet is having a sale today in celebration of the US Labor Day weekend and summer clearances.  Labor Day sales are nothing new, but what is a surprise is the findings of a new survey from our friends at Shop It To Me Now.  According to the data collected by Shop it to Me Now average savings at 2011 Labor Day sales were a  whopping  48.4%. “That’s significantly better than the highly touted Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales, when discounts averaged a mere 41-42% off,” according to Shop It To Me.  Does this mean it’s better to buy now instead of at Black Friday? I can’t say, because we don’t know what all the Black Friday deals are yet, and generally Black Friday is the time when retailers pull out ALL the stops, especially for electronics.

Here’s what’s on my Labor Day Watch list if you’re shopping this weekend.

Kohl’s: Store wide savings plus, Kohl’s cash with a $50.00 purchase. Look for deals on fashions including Jennifer Lopez, Lauren Conrad, Simply Vera & Vera Wang Princess.  For kids, look for special edition Kohl’s Cares “Eat This Not That” book to give your gives the information they need on what’s in that junk food they love to eat.  If you like Kohl’s don’t forget to enter The Recessionista’s giveaway for a $100.00 gift card to shop at Kohl’s for fashion or anything else.

TJ Maxx: Many great MaxxFinds are on the racks from famous designers, plus a new offering, US Open Inspired Bowties from T.J.Maxx for $12.99 (compared to $25.99).  Even if your guy isn’t a tennis buff, these ties make a great fashion accent.

Loehmann’s
My final pick is the Loehmann’s clearance. Any time a store advertises fashion and accessories on sale for $1.00, $5.00, $10.00 and even $15.00, I hear the siren’s call. I’ll be spelunking for bargains on the sales racks looking for the red, purple and yellow sticker items. Remember, the colored sticker indicates clearance price.

These are my Sunday Savvy personal picks. But of course, tomorrow is another day of shopping and saving in the big city! 🙂
