Catherine Malandrino launched the world premier of her new diffusion line, Catherine-by-Catherine Malandrino, at WWDMAGIC during MAGIC Market Week in Las Vegas. The diffusion line is designed to cater to the young working professional, complete with a more cost-effective price tag. Our spies tell us that the line will be a 150-piece collection that will be sold at  Dillard’s, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s.  Pricing is rumored to range from $79 to $400.00 US.   It’s good news that Ms. Malandrino is doing a line for recessionistas.  The fit and quality of her garments has always been terrific, although the price tag has sometimes been intimidating.

At WWDMAGIC last week, Ms. Malindrino  discussed the collection and her inspirations in an interview with Hal Rubenstein, Editor-at-large for InStyle Magazine.  She describe the line as effortlessly chic and created specifically for the young working woman who wants to tell a story through the way she presents herself.  Ms. Malindrino imagines the buyer for  Catherine-by-Catherine Malandrino as  feminine, powerful and someone who will one day transition to wearing the Catherine Malandrino line. As you might expect, French influences are very present in the collection, which is full of refined silhouettes that accentuate a woman’s figure.  These are the trademark touches of Ms. Malandrino.  The collection’s palette includes a range of tones including cool grays, bright blues, browns, tans and pops of mustard-yellow to create a sophisticated collection with a clear infusion of youth.

Right now, you can find Catherine Malandrino for less during special sales at  shopping clubs like Gilt and Ideeli, but also at TJ Maxx’s Ruway section.  With this announcement, Malandrino lovers will be able to find her styles for less at major retailers, which is good news for fashion lovers.
