Vera Wang offers an updated look at the Little Black Dress with her Simply Noir collection for Kohl’s.

Vera Wang’s first ever capsule collection for Kohl’s,  called Simply Noir is now available online.  The little black dress been popular since Chanel put her spin on it and popularized it in 1926.  With this collection, designer Vera Wang is getting back to fashion basics with this “little black dress” designs and departing from the hit or miss colorful prints she has been showing at Kohl’s. Vera Wang’s fifteen piece  “black dress” capsule collection is fittingly called, Simply Noir. There’s nothing cutting edge here, but the dresses are versatile and well suited a variety of body shapes.  The campaign photos feature women who are not just sample sizes wearing the dresses (what the fashion industry calls “plus-size”), which adds a touch of authenticity.

Uneven hems and sleeveless styles are part of the Simply Vera, Simply Noir collection by Vera Wang

Inspired by Vera Wang’s signature style and designed with the everyday modern woman in mind, Simply Noir features elegant black dresses in a variety of styles and silhouettes.  All items within the capsule collection retail for under $100 (prices start at $51.00 on sale) , available exclusively at Kohl’s. The dresses are available only online. I have not been able to see these in person at a Kohl’s store, but the images look very attractive.  The collection is the best thing I have seen at Kohl’s  for fashion in a long time (sadly the Reed Krakoff apparel was not great looking.)
According to Vera Wang’s PR team, ‘Each one of the dresses can be transformed from a casual day dress to dressier night look, depending on how the dress is styled.”  The Simply Noir dress collection is available in women’s regular sizes, petites and plus-sizes.  What do you think readers? Would you invest in a “little black dress” from Kohl’s for Fall?
