Nicole Richie has parlayed her brief time in the reality TV spotlight as Paris Hilton’s sidekick into a fashion franchise.  Today Macy’s announced that Nicole Richie will be their new “designer ” for an exclusive Macy’s Impulse collection.  Macy’s has always liked celebrity labels, so Nicole can go right along side their stock of Jessica Simpson, Martha Stewart and Donald Trump.  The collection Nicole launched earlier this year for QVC has been a success, and Macy’s promises more of the same.  Look for Nicole’s boho chic style on the racks at the retailer.  Macy’s announced in a press release that the collection will feature ” maxis and asymmetrical skirts, cropped tops and fitted jackets. This collection offers a well-rounded assortment of silhouettes that play to her mood. Retro prints take center stage in the form of bold peacock kaleidoscope, feather and deco chevron, while matte satin, velvet and chiffon fabrications add sophistication. Jewel tones anchor the color palette, while complementary gold and imperial blue hues create pops of color throughout.”  The price range is reported to be from $49 to $149. This sounds quite a bit like some of her QVC collection to me.

Before Nicole’s style hits the Macy’s racks in September, she’s presenting a special Mother’s Day necklace to charm consumers. Nicole has “designed” an exclusive necklace to benefit Baby2Baby, a charity that supplies Los Angeles families in need with essential baby gear and clothing.  Baby2Baby provides new and gently used items for children up to 12 years old and reaches over 50,000 families each year.

For Mother’s Day, Nicole has created a14kt yellow gold plated pyramid station necklace with mother earth green resin in support of Baby2Baby and children in need.  ‘We take the basic necessities for granted, but for many families, it’s a serious struggle. This is one way to ease the financial burden, and help new babies have a good start in life,’ comments Nicole.  The limited edition necklace can be found be exclusively online at www.revolveclothing.com and www.glamhouse.com, priced at  $75 US with 20% of the proceeds to be donated to Baby2Baby.   What do you think? I like the necklace, but I have to admit I am amazed by the fashion empire Nicole Richie has created.  The success of Fashion Star has been a great spring board for her.
