Holiday Preparations Begin: Recessionista Revived with the Pinot Noir!

By  |

As an English major in college, I loved the poetry of Lord Byron. I’ll always remember that he said: “Wine cheers the sad, revives the old, inspires the young, makes weariness forget his toil. And I believe that, “Life is too short to drink bad wine.”

So I am home this Saturday making some holiday preparations and delighting in a particularly delicious & cost effective Pinot Noir. I’m savoring 2006 Castle Rock Pinot Noir as I type this post. Its delicious and its making this weary Recessionista’s holiday preparations alot better already! I picked up this delicious bottle of vino over at Trader Joes for $9.95!!! And yes, as Bryon foretold, I do feel revived. Upon Googling this fine bottle, I see that its been called a great cheap & cheerful red wine for under $15.00 by no less than Food & Wine Magazine. It has the most delicious berry nose, and such a smooth plum/cherry flavor that I confess I am hooked. Sometimes, by the time Saturday rolls around, I am just completely exhausted. But there are holiday preparations to make. I have already received two Christmas cards!!!! And they contain personal notes. Obviously, Santa’s elves are already hard at work doing their cards. Its catch up time.

Receiving the cards renews my own resolve to write my greetings, put up my wreath & my tree. Only this fine Pinot powers me forward to complete these tasks. I’m going back to the wine store to stock up on a few more bottles of this, and my other favorite Mark West Pinot Noir. The Mark West Pinot Noir is another great Pinot that’s absolutely delicious and still cheap and cheerful.

I would highly recommend either of these affordable “recession wines” for your holiday dinner.
And uncorking a bottle pre-Christmas makes the most mundane preparations better 🙂
Yes, I will finish preparations, yes I will, yes I will 🙂
