Gisele Bündchen is the new face of H&M for fall

H&M has announced that their fall fashion campaign will have a new face and look.  Wait for it….Gisele Bündchen,  is thenew face of H&M’s fall campaign.  In the preview, the model is dressed in  H&M’s view of this season’s “must-have ” essentials. She’s wearing a kind of mountain man type faux fur vest with a plaid shirt in the video.  H&M calls the look, “tough but feminine” with a fall collection that features utilitarian coats and blazers worn with blouses, sweatshirts and pants about to hit stores.  But wait there’s more.  Like Topshop’s “Who’s That Girl” Campaign with Kate Bosworth, H&M features Gisele singing a classic  song in the campaign.  I have heard the preview, and I can only ask why?  Look for the video of the campaign to be released on September 12th.  In the video/commercials, Gisele  will talk sing The Kinks classic, “All Day And All Of The Night.”  As Topshop has done, H&M will make the song available for free download from hm.com, as well as on iTunes. For every download from iTunes, H&M will make a donation to UNICEF to enable the purchase of vaccines for children. “I am so excited to be the face of H&M this fall. I love the street style inspired look, and that we can raise funds for UNICEF at the same time. I hope everyone downloads my song!” says Gisele.  OK, I’m all for charity but Gisele is not a singer.  She doesn’t embarrass herself, but there’s nothing memorable or unique about her voice.  It can be a great hook to use music to sell fashion, but why not leave the music to the professionals?  To me, it would’ve been more effective to use the old Kinks track with Ray Davies singing “All Day And All Of The Night” and just have Gisele model the clothes to the song.  To hear an excerpt of Gisele singing the Kinks classic, click on the picture above.
