The Monse Resort Collection for 2017 is full of khaki including a trench dress, pants and jacket.

Khaki has been a casual fashion staple for years, from Abercrombie & Fitch to the Gap, khaki has been a mainstay for pants and outerwear. It’s also been part of military clothing collections since the Great War.  But now Khaki is going more upscale. Several high-end designers are making Khaki garments part of their fashion collections.  Monse is showing a Khaki trench dress–recently spotted on actress Margot Robbie– as part of their Fall resort collection   Tome NYC, the chic womenswear line from Ramon Martin and Ryan Lobo,  has offered Khaki tunics and dresses with a feminine ruffle neckline for a mere $575.00.  Even Balenciaga is offering a Khaki turtleneck sweater dress for fall.  Here’s a look at some of the luxury label and mid-priced Khaki apparel for Fall.

If you make your own clothes (like I used to), then you know the cost of Khaki gabardine or twill fabric is relatively cheap.   You can buy a yard of gabardine Khaki for $5.75 per yard.  A higher cotton blend of gabardine Khaki fabric may be a bit more, but it’s certainly not a luxury fabric.

It’s not just the fashion industry that is taking a new look at Khaki.  The beauty industry is making Khaki products.  Burberry has a Khaki green nail polish and a metallic khaki nail polish.  Sisley Paris is offering Khaki eye pencil.  There are also several Khaki eye shadows on the market.

What do you think readers? Would you pay hundreds of dollars for a Khaki garment for a luxury label? Or will you look for Khaki fashions at J Crew, Target and Nordstrom?  Read more about the Khaki trend in the Wall Street Journal.
