It’s a fair guess that when you think of talk show host Ellen as in  Ellen DeGeneres, you don’t think of handbags.  But it seems Ellen wants to change all that by diversifying her lifestyle brand into tote bags and wallets.   Ellen DeGeneres’ new lifestyle collection, ED has teamed up with Camuto Group  to develop handbags, set to launch in Spring 2017.

So what can you expect from this collaboration?  Our spies tell us that  this collection will offer a wide range of totes, cross bodies, backpacks and novelty items with unique detailing, ease and sophisticated design elements signature to the ED Ellen DeGeneres brand.

“I’m so excited to launch my new handbag collection with Camuto Group.  They’re unique.  Simple and beautiful.  Perfectly put together… They’re like if Ryan Gosling had a shoulder strap,” said Ellen DeGeneres.

Seriously. If Ryan Gosling had a shoulder strap?  Sorry Ellen, I’m not crushing on the prototype picture of this line. It looks very C level Lands End tote.  Why not just buy a tote from Lands End?   I’m looking at this and wondering why Ellen DeGeneres would even want to put her name of this.

ED handbags will range from$128.00-$278.00, small leather goods from $38.00-$58.00 and wallets from $68.00-$78.00 and will be available at better department stores and specialty boutiques.  I’ll be interested to see how many of these bags are sold and how they are received by consumers.  Even if you love Ellen, if hard to love these plain bags when the handbag market is flooded with so many more attractive options.
