Bridal Gowns at Costco: Kirstie Kelly Gowns on sale for under $1,000.

By  |

Yes, it’s true.  Costco is now selling wedding dresses. Bridal Gowns to be exact, for savings of approximately 40% off of retail prices according to their website.   Frugal brides wishing to save can now make a fitting appointment at their local Costco warehouse.  Romantic? No.  Thrifty? Yes.  Bridal gowns can cost thousands of dollars, and Costco will be selling designer Kirstie Kelly gowns for under $1,000 US.   According to the Los Angeles Times,  the gowns at CostCo “range in price from $700 .. to $1,400 for a satin hand-beaded gown with a sweetheart neckline and detachable jeweled cap sleeves.” Ka-ching!

I’ve got my eye on this one to see how Costco does in the wedding gown game. Can Costco develop “Costco Couture?” Can they take business from Vera Wang at David’s Bridal? J. Crew and Anthropologie too?   In the words of Elvis Costello, “It’s Getting Mighty Crowded.”    Moreover, will brides want to schlep out to a Costco warehouse to try on the dress of their dreams?  The jury is out on this one. Costco never ceases to amaze. (My local store even sells Cartier watches from time to time.)   Just think, you could go to Costco to cater your wedding reception, get the wine/alcohol and buy your dress.  One stop wedding shopping.  I can just hear the Costco registers ringing.
