PriceGrabber Survey: More consumers shopping for fashion online

mobile_shopping

A new survey carried out by PriceGrabber.co.uk illustrates that the way we buy fashion has evolved.  The days when most of us visited a brick and mortar store to try on our clothes  and then purchase them are waning.   The survey reveals that  nearly half of all of respondents (47%), admit that they now buy the majority of their fashion online. Conducted from March 12 to April 22, 2013, the survey includes responses from almost 1,000 UK online shopping consumers.

I think the explosion of mobile shopping, deals on Foursquare and online clubs like Gilt Groupe or Ideeli also play a role.  PriceGrabber.co.uk has seen the fashion category grow in volume over the past few years.  That’s not a surprise, as it is much easier to do price comparisions online using shopping & price aggregator sites like PriceGrabber.   Another benefit of online shopping is seeing customer reviews.  That may tell you about the quality of the merchandise, but you still need to try something on to see how it works for you.   Today’s shoppers just want to do the trying on at home rather than in store. Fashion Deal: H&M’s Recycling Program Don’t Waste Fashion

HM Recycle

H&M’s Recycling Program a win for consumers & Mother Earth

Two weeks ago, I cleaned out my closets. Usually, I take the cast offs to Goodwill.  This year, I took many of the pieces I hadn’t worn for a while to my local H&M store for their recycling program.  Have any of you tried the program yet? I wrote about this H&M environmentally conscious program a while ago , but it took me some time to actually test drive it.  Here’s how it works, and how you can reap savings by recycling your old clothing. Deal: Google Offers Come to Google +

Google Offer Zagat

Google Offer on Zagat Guides

Google has long been one of The Recessionista’s favorite ways to find the deals.  You can Google  (search) for any thing and add the word coupon or discount to your search and usually find a  deal.  But now Google is going one step further.  They are taking their answer to Groupon, called Google Offers, and loading it directly to Google+ .  That means that  Google + users will now find deals from Brands they follow on Google + directly posted into their streams er social network via Google +.    If you’re not already a Google+ user, this maybe  a good incentive to go create your profile now and add your favorite fashion brands, restaurants and hotels to your circle.  Of course, if you’re not on Google+ you can always sign-up for Google Offers and receive them via e-mail.

“If you follow any of these brands, you’ll soon see offers from them in your stream,” Dennis Troper of Google said in a post on his Google+ page. “You can save these offers directly from the post.”

TJ Maxx Style: Black and White Trends

TJ Maxx

Model in Black & White from TJ Maxx

Recently, I took on a challenge from TJ Maxx to take $100.00 and go shop like a Maxxinista and always a Recessionista.  TJ Maxx asked me to take style inspiration from another blogger photo and make it my own.  I really like the current black and white trend, because it’s classic.  TJ MAXX Finds Style Scout and  photographer Amy Creyer of Chicago Street Style  found a classic designer black and white jacket (see above) at TJ Maxx for about half of its retail price of $360.00.  The TJ Maxx price was approximately $179.00.  I took my $100.00 and went to TJ Maxx to channel the Chanel black and white vibe, and here’s what I found.  Continue reading »

Phillip Lim Announced as next Target Designer

target-phillip-lim

Philip Lim will be the next Target Designer

Target continues to pursue top designers and bring them into Target for budget collections. Although the results have often been less than fabuless, the brand seems committed to making Target a low-price fashion destination.  That’s why Target has announced they are collaborating with designer Phillip Lim on a low-priced collection for women and men.  Lim previously collaborated successfully with Uniqlo on budget fashion line   His Target collection will be available Sept. 15 at most Target stores and Target.com, 3.1. My spies tell me that  Phillip Lim for Target will feature a range of apparel and accessories, including shoes, bags and travel accessories.  That sounds like the Missioni Target recipe for success. Shoe-in: Sam and Libby Shoes Arrive at Target in Stealth Mode

Target Sam and Libby

Sam and Libby Shoes

The Target Same & Libby collection arrived at Target.com this weekend with little fanfare.  The predominant marketing  seems to be an add in the Sunday newspaper/Target circular and a few Tweet-ups to let fashionistas know that the stock is now in. The new designer shoe collection offers 54 different styles.  The shoes are available at Target online with a limited collection in some brick and mortar stores. That makes it hard to say what the quality is.  Right now, there are no review of the shoes on the Target website.  For a review, check out what my fellow blogger Target-Addict has to say about these.  She seems underwhelmed.  All the shoes are priced under $30.00 . Styles include wedges, sandals, ballet flats and tuxedo loafers.   What do you think readers? Are you dying to get your hands on this  budget relaunch of the Sam & Libby brand?  Or is this a non-event?
