Helen Mirren stunned in Badgley Mischka and Henry Winston, Kate Winslet was flawless in Ralph Lauren and Julianna Moore looked sleek & sparkling in Tom Ford.

This year’s Golden Globe Red Carpet was all couture, but often trendy and not good looking.  There were plenty of dresses with cutouts, big statement necklaces and even fringe (Cate Blanchett.)  Giuliana Rancic modeled an Alex Perry dress with  cut-outs that displayed her painfully thin frame, and certainly anything but sexy.  For hair, many actresses opted for gently styled waves and sleek up-dos.  Katy Perry took  a step too far into the past repeating a 60’s styled bump that caused actress Jennifer Lawrence to wonder what she was wearing on her head. Unlike years past, no one was on the red carpet shouting about inexpensive dresses that they bought off the rack.

Lady Gaga channeled Marilyn Monroe in Versace and newcomer Saoirse Ronan looked regal in Yves Saint Laurent couture.

Lady Gaga channeled Marilyn Monroe with soft wavy hair and a tight Versace black dress with a stunning sweetheart neckline and a cinched waist. Various shades of blue from Julianna Moore’s metallic blue Tom Ford, to Viola Davis embellished Marchesa looking stuffing on this chilly night in Los Angeles.

Cate Blanchett wore a very odd looking vintage styled Givenchy gown.

Two of our least favorite looks of the night came from two actresses whose red carpet style is usually flawless.  Cate Blanchett showed up in an unusual Givenchy gown that was really something of a hot mess.  It was covered in what looked like messy horse hair fringe.

Jane Fonda was ridiculed by some social media posters for the oversized collar on her Yves Saint Laurent Couture gown.

Jane Fonda was mocked on Twitter and Instagram for the wide white fluffy cape type Elizabethan collar that topped  her fitted ivory gown.  The top of the gown was too much for her slender frame— a surprising fashion faux pas since the gown was by Yves Saint Laurent Couture.
