Last night in Hollywood JCPenney treated a group of bloggers to a glamourous night out at the world premiere of Disney’s new Cinderella movie.  For me, it was the chance to to enjoy a special night out, see a great movie and find out what JCPenney is up to on the fashion front.   The new Disney Cinderella movie has inspired JCPenney to offer over 300 Cinderella inspired items including Cinderella costumes, dresses, bedding, pajamas, fashions, accessories and jewelry.  I hadn’t had the opportunity to shop JCPenney accessories and handbags in a while (due to a heavy work schedule) so it was surprising to see how good looking some of the pieces are.   Read on to see more of my evening with JCPenney at the Cinderella movie premiere and Glam Ball.

Our special evening with JCPenney started with a bit of pampering at a suite in Loews Hollywood Hotel.  We were all treated to hair and make-up touch ups by JCPenney stylists.  My hair was styled by a hairdresser who works at a JCPenney salon and my make-up was NARS make-up sold at JCPenney Sephora.   I have to say, the results were stunning.  They gave me a very old Hollywood look with big eyes, dramatic red lipstick and soft curls.

After getting the hair and make-up done, it was time to checkout the JCPenney accessories room.  I picked up some great looking bracelets, earrings and a classy looking black quilted clutch bag to accessorize my Tadashi Shoji sweater and long skirt.

For a handbag, I chose the JCPenney Jada Brave Honlunes Clutch which sells for $39.99.   After getting glam, we all were escorted over to the Red Carpet event at Hollywood & Highland where the stars of the movie –Lily James & Cate Blanchett appeared on the red carpet. Lily James looked like a real-life Cinderella in a gorgeous Elie Saab gown accessorized with real glass slippers.

For those of use who can’t afford haute couture, JCPenney helped us get glam for our own red carpet debut.   Thanks for JCPenney for giving us our own Cinderella moment.

If you have the chance, go see the Disney Cinderella movie opening at theaters on March 13th. It’s such a cute movie. Downton Abbey’s Lily James is perfect as the sweet Cinderella victimized by the evil stepsisters.  Cate Blanchett is deliciously evil as the wicked stepmother and Helena Bonham Carter does a star turn as a Marilyn Monroe like Fairy Godmother.   The costumes by costume designer Sandy Powell are exquisite, dark garish colors for Cate Blanchett and sparkling pastel creations for the lovely Cinderella.  Some of the film’s costumes were on display at the El Capitan Theatre, and they are true works of art.

Thanks to JCPenney for such a special night out!  For more pictures from the evening, follow the Recessionista on Instagram.
