Best Black Friday deals

Wallet Hub’s list of where to shop for the best Black Friday deals.

It’s a great question to ask this time of year, “What Retailers offer the best Black Friday deals?”  That is what every shopper wants to know.  Our in-box at The Recessionista is flooded this week with people searching for the best deals. Fortunately, the folks at Wallet Hub have been doing some heavy duty research in order to help consumers.  Wallet Hub surveyed 5,525 deals from the 2014 Black Friday ad scans of 22 of the biggest U.S. retailers.   They looked at average markdown prices on over 5,000 items to see who has the best deals.   Some of America’s favorite retailers  like Sears, Macy’s & Kohl’s top the lists, but there are a few surprise too.  Check out the research to see where you might want to spend your time shopping this holiday.

If you’re shopping for Apparel and Accessories this season, established retailers Sears, JC Penney, Macy’s,  Kohl’s  and Target are top rated for having good deals on fashion  by Wallet Hub. If you’re shopping for jewelry, then your best bets by price are Kmart, Meijer, JC Penney , and  Macy’s top the list for delivering good deals.  Here’s what’s on our watch list from the Wallet Hub picks for best deals.

  •  JCPenny’s: With an average discount of 65 percent off on merchandise, the retailer sells everything from clothing to jewelry and housewares.  JCP has Sephora, Bauble Bar, Nicole Miller , Mango and Lulu Guinness Handbags as shopping attractions.  JC Penny’s Pre- Black Friday deals are already online.
  •  Macy’s: Shoes, clothes, furniture, make-up and more will be on sale at this major retailer, which is offering an average of 53 percent of its merchandise.  Check our list of Macy’s Black Friday deals.
  •  Rite Aid:  These easy to find drug stores have it all from beauty products, to small electronics, holiday candy and decorations, This pharmacy will also be offering an average of 53 percent of its merchandise.
  • Sears: Large appliances, clothing, tools and more will be on sale at this retailer for an average of 50 percent off.  Beware of the Kardashian Kollection, sure to be discounted more heavily than usual.
  • Walgreens:The pharmacy will have make-up, toys, holiday candy and more on sale for an average of 46 percent off.  Look for the L’Oreal Anti-aging products and make-up from Boots No. 7 &  L’Oreal on the Walgreens racks. Walgreens early Black Friday deals are already online.
  • Kohl’s: Clothing, bedding, luggage, housewares and more will be on sale for an average of 39 percent off on many items.  Look for discounts on Tahari for Kohl’s, Gifts for Men, the Food Network and many more!   The full list of Kohl’s Black Friday deals is already on line, so see the deals here.

It’s interesting that Walmart is not on the list of these top stores for overall deals this year. I find Walmart way too dangerous a place to be on Black Friday with people fighting over TV sheets and behaving badly.
