Mandarin Oriental Hotel

A view of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on New York’s Upper West Side.

With New York Fashion Week just a few days away, we’ve been searching the web for the best deals on travel, hotel and spa in the Lincoln Square area around Lincoln Center in Manhattan.  Our search has turned up some great deals on facials  and dining at the Mandarin Oriental New York. You can enjoy a breakfast close to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and  discounted drinks at the MOBar. Plus, the spa at the  Mandarin Oriental New York is offering a discount on their acclaimed  Micro Flash Lift Facial.  This is a gentle way to pamper your skin via a non-invasive treatment.   Located just blocks from Lincoln Center, the Mandarin Oriental New York is a great place to meet with other fashionistas on breaks between shows, do interviews or just blog from the lobby while sipping one of their “couture cocktails. ”  This modern luxury hotel in the heart of Manhattan’s Upper West Side makes for a terrific New York Fashion Week office far from the madding crowd

Spa treatments at the Mandarin Oriental New York combine ancient and contemporary techniques.

Here’s what’s on The Recessionista’s list of specials at the Mandarin Oriental New York during Fashion Week.  Like most press and bloggers covering New York Fashion Week, we have a full and sometime stressful schedule.  A little break to refresh and recharge in style can make all the difference.

Get your Fashion Week Glow on with a  Facial at the Spa

Here’s how to get your pre-show prep on with a luxury treatment close to the tents at Lincoln Center.   Fashion Week attendees can put their best face forward by indulging in a 50 minute Micro Flash Lift Facial at the Five-Star Spa at Mandarin Oriental, New York.  Who has the time or the money for a full face lift before fashion week?  And why do something so drastic and irreversible to your precious face? The benefits of the Mandarin’s Micro Flash Lift Facial are much more gentle and affordable.  The treatment is specially designed to brighten skin, therapists use a series of precise movements to gently manipulate facial muscles while a non-invasive micro current system restores natural contour while boosting collagen levels and increasing cell renewal. According to the spa, the treatment’s effects are immediate and result in a youthful and refined appearance just in time for the shows. The Micro Flash Lift Facial is available at USD 245 on weekdays and USD 260 on weekends. For reservations, please call the The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, New York +1 (212) 805 8880 or email monyc-spa@mohg.com.

In addition to the facial, be sure to arrive at the spa 45 minutes in advance of your appointment time to enjoy the spa’s heat and water facilities, which soothe muscles, loosen limbs and allow you to really relax before your treatment.   The spa also offers a soothing foot ritual before your treatment begins– an added bit of pampering that helps relieve what I call ” fashion week foot syndrome” (caused by high heels and possibly standing room only at shows.)   With the average cost of just a facial in New York City running well over $100.00, you get many additional benefits included in the price of your Micro Flash Lift Facial at the Mandarin Oriental New York.

Enjoy a Fashion Week Power Breakfast in Asiate

A central hub for fashion executives and the media industry elite, the Asiate restaurant invites the fashionistas in for a variety of healthy breakfast options before their day begins.   The restaurant is offering a healthy “Power Breakfast.”  Now that I live in Los Angeles, it’s always a treat to relax over breakfast while enjoying the terrific views of New York from the restaurant. The breakfast menu includes light, healthy options like the high protein, low carb Japanese Breakfast Bento with roasted salmon, miso soup, omelet and pickled vegetables, the “In Good Health Breakfast” with a fresh fruit salad, natural low fat yogurt and granola with toasted walnuts or the antioxidant-packed Chia Seed Pudding with toasted coconut, pink lady apple, pear and blueberries. Pair breakfast with a Protein Smoothie with oats, almond milk, banana, strawberry and honey or a special Green Juice with spinach, celery, cucumber, kale, apple and ginger while enjoying the morning sun coming through the restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling windows. For reservations, please call +1 (212) 805 8881 or email monyc-asiate@mohg.com.  Check the restaurant menu online before you go for pricing.

Meet over Couture Cocktails and Fashion Tea at the Lobby Lounge and MObar

Toast to a favorite designer during Fashion Week with a post-show Para-Sol or Bourbon Tumblr cocktail at the Lobby Lounge or MObar. With unparalleled views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline from the 35th floor, the Lobby Lounge is a stylish setting to enjoy a celebratory cocktail or fashion-forward Afternoon Tea while chatting about the latest collections. For reservations, please call +1 (212) 805 8800 or email monyc-lobbylounge@mohg.com.  I’m looking forward to having fashion tea with my friend Heather aka LAFashionSnob at the Mandarin.  We’d been thinking of going to the Plaza, but travel time away from Lincoln Center is prohibitive.  The lounge at the Mandarin Oriental New York is a better option.

Special drinks at the Mandarin Oriental New York include: Bella Pesca: Champagne, St. Germain, Grapefruit & Lychee Juice, Chambord Heavenly Hibiscus: Prosecco, Domaine De Canton, Hibiscus Syrup, Lime Juice Neo Fresco: Facundo Neo Rum, Pear Nectar, Prosecco, Lemon Juice, Agave, Thyme. A special Tasting Flight is offered for  $35 from Sept. 4- Sept. 11th.

Although I’d love to move into the Mandarin Oriental New York (like Eloise did at the Plaza)  the rooms are a bit pricey for The Recessionista’s budget (you can look on the hotel’s website for the best available rates.)  However, I love taking advantage of the other benefits of this great hotel during Fashion Week.  Who doesn’t like a little taste of luxury while in the Big Apple?

If you’re traveling to New York after Fashion Week, check out the deals at the hotel on shopping.  In the past they’ve partnered with Bergdorf-Goodman for unique shopping experiences.
