Last night Vanity Fair and OMEGA Watches threw a party in Beverly Hills to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing. Astronaut, and the original Major Tom to ground control Colonel Buzz Aldrin was on hand with and model Beverly Johnson to celebrate the historic event. Did you know that the Apollo 11 Astronauts wore OMEGA watches on the Moon Landing mission? So it’s only fitting that to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing OMEGA has launched the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Apollo 11 Limited Edition Timepiece. This is no ordinary time piece. The watch is as unique as the Moon Landing itself and so is the price of this stunning OMEGA watch.

This stunning watch  issued for the Apollo 11 45th Anniversary Limited Edition is enhanced with 18K OMEGA Sedna™ gold hands and indexes and a matching bezel.  Only 1,969 OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Apollo 11 Limited Edition Timepieces have been issued.  They are true collector’s items. Other features of the watch include:

  • NATO Strap Brown coated nylon fabric strap which is inspired by the NATO straps that have equipped the timepieces issued to military personnel since the end of the 1950s.
  • Calibre 1861, a manual-winding chronograph movement.

The watches are being sold for anywhere from $3,000 to $7,000 dollars depending which websites you look at for a price.  Right now, some of the OMEGA Speedmasters are on sale on eBay.  They are still thousands of dollars even on eBay.

Just as amazing as the OMEGA watches on display was the presence of model Beverly Johnson at the Vanity Fair party.   Some of you may remember that Beverly Johnson was the first African-American model to appear on the cover of Vogue magazine.  She’s as beautiful now as she was when she was Vogue’s covergirl.  Beverly was extremely gracious to us at the party.  It’s always a pleasure when you meet someone as beautiful inside as they are outside.  Beverly has developed a line of hair extensions, wigs and hair care products that have been very successful. Many of her products are available on Amazon.com.

Overall, it was very special evening to commemorate an historic occasion and I was honored to be part of it.  I’ll be dreaming of that OMEGA Apollo 45 Speedmaster Watch tonight. It’s on my aspirational shopping list even though I don’t plan to walk on the moon anytime soon.
