Kohl’s is a great place to check out back to school shopping

In our family, Kohl’s has been our go to store for regular shopping for several years.  They have something for everyone from top fashion brands to homewares, jewelry, patio furniture and Food Network items for cooking.   The newest Kohl’s lover in our family is my 13 year old niece, the Recessioniecesta who has just acquired a new school wardrobe via Kohl’s Candies line, Vera Wang Princess & Lauren Conrad.  If you are trying to outfit kids for back to school or shop for fall fashions,  take a look at The Recessionista’s top picks and enter to win a special giveaway so you can shop at Kohl’s.   I’m giving away 3 Kohl’s gift cards for shopping.

Fashions for my niece for back to school from Kohl’s

Here is what I choose to outfit my niece for school and school social events:

  • Princess Vera Wang Beaded Sleeveless Lace top (sale $24.00) –this top is so age appropriate and vintage looking with the Peter Pan collar. Another favorite is the Princess Vera Wang Cut-out top.
  • Princess Vera Wang High Top Sneakers –these sneakers have the perfect Tween cool factor edge with the little zippers on the sides.
  • SO Varsity Faux-Leather Jacket – Juniors (sale $25.00) (possibly her favorite item due to the “cool factor”)
  • Mudd Floral Jeans and Skinny Jeans
  • Rock & Republic Stretch Jeans
  • Candie’s Back Pack
  • Candie’s Dresses (Black Crochet Dress and Chiffon Blue Butterfly dress (she didn’t like either of these dresses until she tried them on, then she fell in love with both, especially the black one)
  • Kohl’s Cares Tek Gear collection of shirt, shorts, hat and bra for Breast Cancer Awareness month for her sports activities.
  • Lauren Conrad rugby stripe dress in blue and green (now sold-out online,  look for it in stores.)

One nice feature of Kohls.com is that you can create a shopping list and budget for your purchases.  I saved all my picks for my little niece to my Back to School list, then went back to add up the prices to make sure I was within my budget. You can see my list here and learn how to create your own shopping list on Kolh’s.com.  I use the list to highlight items I want and then go back and check it when there is a sale to see if the prices have dropped low enough to be a good deal –that’s when I usually buy.

Of course, no trip to Kohl’s is complete without some shopping for #me 🙂   Here’s what I bought:

  • Simply Vera Vera Wang textured smart phone cross-body bag ($49)- now sold-out online but look for it in stores.  It’s such a comfortable way to carry a few things when you are walking around town or on vacation.
  • Lauren Conrad Striped Shirt, now on sale for $14.00
  • Apt. 9 Striped Maxi Dress
  • Princess Vera Wang Smoking Flats with Twitter Hashtags ( I wore these to the recent BlogHer conference)
  • Dana Buchman Embellished Shirred Top

No it’s time for you to get ready to do your own shopping at Kohl’s and enter to win a gift card.  I am giving away one $100.00 gift card and 2 $50.00 gift cards, so there will be three lucky winners.   To enter, you must leave a comment on this post telling me what are currently lusting for at Kohl’s either for yourself  (upcoming Catherine Malandrino? , Lauren Conrad? Vera?  J Lo?) or your kids.   You will get one entry for the comment, after that, you can score additional entries by signing up for The Recessionista’s Social Media Communities or posting to Facebook or Twitter about this contest.  This contest is open for 7 days, until Aug. 24th at midnight EST.

Note: I am not compensated by Kohl’s to run this giveaway.  I did receive some samples from Kohl’s of clothing items to evaluate their quality , but I also purchased some of the items mentioned in this blog post.
