Back in 2009, Michelle Obama wore a White House | Black Market dress on The View.  The $150.00 dress promptly sold out and was one of Michelle’s first recessionista fashion finds.  The fashion world responded with applause for her thrifty and chic fashion choice.

To celebrate the second inauguration of the Obamas, White House | Black Market is introducing a limited-edition inaugural-inspired dress collection. This collection consists of nine dresses ranging from cocktail to beaded gowns that retail between $250-$300, in sizes from ranging from 00 to 16. These unique dresses are sold online at WHBM and exclusively at four White House | Black Market boutiques including The Fashion Centre at Pentagon City, Tyson’s Corner, Wisconsin Place, and Westfield Montgomery.

White House | Black Market will also host an in-store event on January 10th at the four local DC White House | Black Market boutiques, which will include stylists who will create the perfect evening looks for attendees.  If you’re in the DC area, you might want to get in the Inaugural spirit and attend this special event.

As we prepare for the 2013 Inaugural event, speculation is running rampant on what designer Mrs. Obama will choose to wear.  In 2009 she focused worldwide attention on Jason Wu by wearing his one shoulder white chiffon gown with applique flowers.   Who will she choose in 2013 and tap to be a sensation in the fashion world?  “Prabal Gurung is a likely choice, ” says Glamour magazine contributing style editor Tracey Lomrantz Lester to the Boston Globe. “She’s been wearing more and more of his clothes lately, and his eveningwear in particular is brilliantly designed and utterly unique.”  I’m not so sure it will be Prabal.  I’d love to see Michelle in more Tracy Reese or even another Thom Browne.   She rocked both designers at the Democratic National convention last summer, and looked great in both.

Whatever designer she chooses, I’m betting on Michelle Obama to once again show the world her good taste and use the opportunity to spotlight an American designer.
