Part of the entertainment of the Golden Globes is the fashion parade. The stars turn out in the good, the bad and the ugly. While there were misses, there was also a lot to love, starting with those fabulous Armanis. I didn’t understand all of Jodie Foster’s speech, but I understood how fabulous she looked in Armani. At 50 she showed off amazing biceps and a stunning Giorgio Armani custom blue gown. The dress was covered in blue paillettes and features wide beaded straps that were woven together in an intricate design over the chest and a sweetheart bust line. The form-fitting silhouette had a slight train. This is one gown I would love to see some lower priced versions of. It would make a stunning cocktail dress. The wide beaded V straps really showed off Jodie’s face and natural beauty.
Miss Golden Globes Francesca Eastwood looked like old Hollywood in her Armani. She wore an Giorgio Armani vintage sea foam green gown. The tulle dress featured an intricate beaded floral design with an irregular hemline, creating an ethereal effect.
My favorite fashion face off of the night was Adele in her gorgeous, classic long Burberry dress vs Taylor Swift in her Donna Karan eggplant gown. Adele was the winner both on the red carpet and for her song, Skyfall. Taylor looked none too pleased upon hearing of Adele’s victory. I think Adele should’ve called Kayne, but she seemed oblivious to Taylor’s pout.
As for trends on the carpet, some played it safe in basic black (Kate Hudson looked terrific in McQueen), while there was a lot of red and plenty of pink or blush. Here are some of the best looks from the carpet by color (in my opinion.) I was surprised to see so many actresses wearing their hair down in cascading waves. There were only a few updos this year.
Pre Valentines, there was also a lot of blush tones and deep reds on the carpet. Following are a few of my favorites. Amanda Seyfried (far right looked stunning in a blush Givenchy gown. Catherine Zeta-Jones looked terrific in a white sparking Jenny Packham dress. There’s already a lot of blush in the stores for Valentines, take a look at Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s and Richard Nicoll for Topshop for more affordable blush dresses.
Strapless red gowns with full skirts were very popular at the awards this season. Claire Danes was one of the few actresses to wear a halter gown, with a more streamlined skirt. What did you think readers? What was your favorite color or trend?
