Yesterday I took a little Los Angeles drive to H&M on Sunset to check out the Anna Dello Russo collection for H&M, or what was left of it. Turns out there were quite a few pieces of the jewelry left, most of the shoes and even one of the hideous fascinators were still on the shelves. I dove it of course to see what the fuss was about, as it is now mostly sold out at the limited number of H&M stores that had the collection for sale. Up close, I have to tell you, I wasn’t that impressed. The charm jewelry is really over the top and clunky. You have to like big, gauche things to go for it. You will clang as loudly as an untouchable wearing a bell in the ADR for H&M charm necklace or belt. The Baroque gold framed blue luggage was sold out, but I saw it in the window on the displays. It was pretty, but for the price, it didn’t look worthwhile. I could see the plastic getting cracked as it falls on the airline baggage delivery systems. If you bought ADR for H&M please try to carry it on the plane. Plastic luggage and airline baggage handlers are just not a good match.
So, I can hear you asking, is there anything you liked from the collection? Well, yes. I liked the little gold slippers but not for $59.99. And I like the emerald and rhinestone drop earrings. The ADR shoes were dramatic, very Jimmy Choo like, you just have to be able to walk in them. For the price, I didn’t want to buy them and risk it. I saw a lot of the shoes still left on the shelf at both the Los Angeles Sunset and Beverly Center stores. I actually bought the gold clutch purse, and returned it 15 minutes later when I realized how poorly made it was for $99.00 The fascinator was way too much, with it’s dead bird look. I saw the gold sunglasses, and also passed on those. You need to be a Vogue Fashion Editor to be able to carry them off. They are like 1950s sunglasses meets Louis XIV. Although, I don’t necessarily think ADR for H&M is value for price, it does offer a few baubles that make for a dramatic look, especially for the holidays. That’s why I picked up a pair for the Rhinestone Drop earrings to giveaway to my readers. I like these earrings, and I think they make for a fun night out. This is a customer appreciation giveaway since I know some of you couldn’t shop the collection in your city. Please note, these earrings were paid for by me, and this giveaway is not sponsored by H&M.
