Haute News: Target Announces Prabal Gurung for Target Collection

Here’s a surprise.  The next Target designer will be….wait for it..Prabal Gurung.  This seems like a continuation of the design partnerships from the newly previewed Target/Neiman Marcus Collaboration.  My spies tell me that we can expect women’s ready-to-wear and accessories, including handbags, shoes and jewelry. The collection will be available Feb. 10 through March 23, 2013, or while supplies last, at all Target stores and Target.com.  If you saw my post on the Neiman’s and Target collection, I thought the Prabal Gurung fashion pieces like the cape were incredible, at least from the pictures. Prabal coming to Tarjay is yet another economic indicator.  The designer is usually found at Net-a-Porter, Saks and Neiman Marcus for thousands of dollars. Naturally Mr. Gurung is thrilled to be moving the the mass-market space via Target.

“I am so thrilled to be working with Target on a collection that brings my designs to a wider audience,” said Prabal Gurung, designer. “This collection was inspired by love and if Target’s guests can feel even a little bit of the love that I felt while I was designing this collection, then I will consider it a job well done.”

According to Target, “The Prabal Gurung for Target collection reflects Gurung’s distinct aesthetic, with impeccable tailoring and feminine silhouettes, and features striking prints, hot-hued palettes and sleek styles that will add dimension to any woman’s wardrobe. Standout pieces include refined dresses, mixed-media skirts, edgy blazers and striking shoes.”  The collection ranges in price from $19.99 to $199.99 for apparel and $12.99 to $39.99 for jewelry, handbags and shoes.  I look forward to seeing the pictures.  This has got to be better than the recent Shops at Target collection, right?

It's about time! I reported the rumors about Prabal doing a line for Target over 2 years ago. Wonder why it took them so long to pull the trigger?
