One of the best shows I saw at LA Fashion week this Spring was the FIDM Debut show. This is a full on runway show extravaganza that shows off the design talents of the students at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Downtown Los Angeles. I was blown away by how professional and well produced this year’s FIDM debut was. If you’ve never seen a FIDM LA show, then here’s some good news. An exhibit of fashions from the shows is about to go on display so the public can enjoy them as a follow on the Fashion’s Night Out. “FIDM Debut Designer Exhibition” will be on display at the Beverly Center from Friday, September 7 – Sunday, September 9. The exhibit will be open to the public and will allow mall visitors to see over 25 red carpet gowns designed by the uber talented students at a Beverly Center Center Court exhibition on Level 6.
Presented by FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, in partnership with Beverly Center, the exhibition celebrates more than three decades of the college’s annual Debut fashion show. Each year, 10 Advanced Fashion Design Students present their first fashion collections. Symbolically, this exhibition represents the work of all designers whose work has been presented at this annual fundraiser for the FIDM Scholarship Foundation. If you’re in Los Angeles or visiting, take advantage of this opportunity to see some great fashion from some great talent on the LA scene.
