Giveaway of Exclusive Legacy 1912 Titanic Fragrance from QVC

Pictured: The beautiful bottle of the Legacy 1912 Titanic Perfume.

Earlier this year I wrote about the items of jewelry and the perfume that shopping site and TV network QVC was selling the commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Titanic. QVC has recreated a perfume, called Legacy 1912 Titanic Fragrance, from the sample perfume oils developed by German-born chemist Adolphe Saalfeld that were found in the ruins of the ship.  Poor Mr. Saalfeld got into the lifeboat without his precious perfume vials.  They were found in the ship’s wreckage, and according to QVC, his samples still retained their fragrance. From those samples, the 1912 Legacy perfume was created for QVC.

Dik Barton a salvage expert working with RMS Titanic Inc. describes the fragrance as “flowery, reminiscent of lavender and roses.”  Sounds like a typical Edwardian perfume. Edwardian ladies loved flowers, just read about the scents developed by Coty and Floris during the 1910s. QVC was kind enough to send me a bottle of the perfume, and it is indeed a vintage floral perfume, with the kind of heavier scent popular in the Edwardian age.  The perfume is not currently available on QVC again until August 22nd, so I thought my readers might like a giveaway of the perfume to give a Titanic buff of vintage lover a chance to win it.  Due to the world’s continuing fascination with all things Titanic, I expect the perfume to be a sell out when it is again available. The retail price is $69.00 US.

What a neat story–that the vials still retained their scents. I love scents and would be curious to try this one. I'll have to look for it in August (if I don't win!)

The review says flowery, but I'm thinkin' more like woodsy for the wood paneling on the ship. ???

This perfume is “flowery, reminiscent of lavender and roses.” Women living in The Edwardian period , around the 1910's, LOVED flowers, and they were extremely fond of heavily scented florally perfumes. This new perfume developed EXCLUSIVELY for QVC, fits this description to the tee and commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Titanic Legacy.

Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to possibly win this one of a kind piece, created NOT to glamorize or sensationalize the tragedy of the titanic voyage, rather to celebrate the beauty and elegance of this once fabulously glorious, elegant ocean liner.

    Good Luck To All.
