The High Cost of Cheap: Broken Versace for H&M Bag

I was so excited about my Versace for H&M bag which retailed for $200.00 US.  Now my excited has faded to extreme disappointed. Yesterday, I filled the bag with a wallet, lipstick , cell phone and a pair of sunglasses.  That left the bag only half full, and not exactly weighted down. Within 6 hours of toting the bag to work and running errands, the cheaply made metal carry chain snapped.

Pictured: My H&M Versace bag’s broken chain.

Here’s a picture of the broken chain handle. So much for chic and cheap. There goes my dream of owning a somewhat low priced Versace bag. Buyer beware, this bag is still being sold on eBay for over $200.00 US.  I’ve been such a fan of the H&M designer collections, but the prices have been increasing each year, and when the brand sells designer labeled handbags for several hundred dollars, they should be a bit more substantial.  I’ll be taking the broken bag out for repair. Because it’s been longer than 90 days now, an H&M return is not possible. I hope the forthcoming H&M collection is better made.

sorry about your handbag. they should have designed it a bit sturdier for that amount of money. I agree.

I paid $1500 for a Zac Posen handbag the first year he designed handbags. After using for less than 15 minutes the entire top frame of the bag busted off. I had never spent more than $150 for a handbag before so this was a real splurge. I wrote him and didn't even receive a response. Big joke. Nordstroms sent it out and had it fixed for me! Great store and employees.
