The Metropolitan Costume Gala has been called the Oscars of the East Coast. But unlike the Oscars, there’s been no telecasts In the past bloggers like yours truly have covered the event via live Tweeting of pictures discussing what celebrities are wearing what designers. Well, that’s about to change. The Gala is about to go social. Save the date fashion lovers, because on May 7 at 6:30 pm EST/3:30 pm PST, Amazon.com/Fashion, and will live stream the red carpet arrivals hosted by model and Vogue‘s from 6:30 to 8:30 (EST). My spies tell me we can expect to see interviews with the Gala’s co-chairs , and (as well as various celebrities) as they run the paparazzi gauntlet known as the red carpet before passing into the Museum’s newest exhibit, “ What I wouldn’t give to see that exhibit in person!
Perhaps even more exciting than the live stream of the event, is the opportunity for social sharing. Viewers will be able to ask questions via Twitter to Ms. Wiedemann and Mr. Norwich using hashtag #metquestions. Follow me on Twitter @Recessionista for live Tweeting with that hashtag as we discuss the fashions. Facebook will also be joining in with a streaming show of the attendees as they prepare for the Gala at Facebook.com/celebs.
