| Pictured: Macy’s Fashion Star Looks, on sale now. |
The three looks from the NBC Fashion Star Show picked by Macy’s are now available at Macys.com. And one is already sold out, the Maxi Caftan Dress for $89.0 by Nikki Poulos. Macy’s buyer Caprice Willard purchased the most items of the night with a total of three purchases from the designers below, which you can see on Macys.com/fashionstar. Below is a little about the looks from the individual designers.
- Sleeveless Halter Dress by Edmond Newton— ($99.00, $110.00) — V-neckline dress, halter ties in back of neck, banded inset at empire waist. Ruched skirt with bubble hem and back zipper. Fully lined hits just above the knee. Colors: Black (ruched skirt with bubble hem, $99.00), and Black/White with Rosettes details (allover soutache rosette details, $110.00)
- Kimono-Sleeve Maxi Caftan Dress by Nikki Poulo priced at 89.00, already sold out. This dress has a V-neckline dress with short kimono sleeves and drawstring at empire waist. Floor length; approximately 40 inches long from natural waist with attached slip lining, no pockets. Comes with matching scarf. Colors: White Eyelet and Geo Print.
- Asymmetrical Jersey Tunic by Lizzie Parker priced at $79.00. This is my personal favorite of the three, because I think it’s the most affordable. This top has a rounded neckline, and is made from a textured knit with asymmetrical ruching at front. Single cape sleeve can also be worn as a dress (a mini dress). The tunic comes with attached slip, which you need because it’s sheer. Colors: Black, Ivory and Plum.
I think the Macy’s garments look great, but the H&M Fashion Star collection really undercuts them in price point by a substantial margin. There are no $19.99 dresses here. What do you think readers? Would you wear any of the Macy’s pieces? The power of TV marketing is great. I’m amazed that the $89.00 Maxi dress already sold out.

I saw the program last night and was a bit confused…I am a loyal Project Runway watcher and was not used to the new show's way of working. I hate the bright Vegas lights and music! Hopefully the show will be better in the future when they show the making of the clothing…I wasn't too impressed with the clothes and was amazed at how cheap they priced them on the Macy's site…
Can't stand the Vegas style and corny live audience either, however love the concept of immediate availability. Elle McPherson definitely not necessary.
my pick would be the Maxi dress! It just screaming “SUMMER” to me…
