Remember Project Runway winner Irina Shabayeva? One of the challenges she won on Project Runway was the Macy’s INC. challenge, to design a dress to be sold at Macy’s as part of the INC. collection. Well now, she is designing an entire Spring collection for the INC. line (see two of the pieces above.) The collection will launch at Macy’s stores on Feb. 19th. I’ve been a fan of Irina’s for some time. She’s a really talented designer with a great eye. I had the pleasure of interviewing her at Macy’s last year. I was impressed by her work ethic and attention to detail. So what can we expect from her new collection for Macy’s?
Irina for INC is a sportswear collection that evolved out of the designer’s notion of movement and dance (I’m thinking the Ballets Russes.) Macy’s shoppers will find Shabayeva’s trademark form fitting dresses and separates, notably tops, skirts, jackets and even denim. In addition to garments, Irina for INC offers dance inspired footwear that ranges from Ponte slipper platforms to ribbon tied espadrilles. Most of the collection is priced at under $100.00. Tops range in price from $49-$99, pants & denim range from $79-$129, skirts from $89-$119, dresses range from $99-$169 and outerwear from $119-$159. Footwear will be available at $98. And of course, with Macy’s you can always find a Passport coupon to bring those prices down.
I’m excited to see Irina’s collection, and I hope that maybe Macy’s will ring up another Project Runway Alumni , perhaps for Fall. I’d love to see Laura Bennett at Macy’s. Paging Laura!
