Recently Anne Taylor’s lower priced line Loft held a Fall Preview event for press and bloggers at LA landmark hotel, The Chateau Marmont.  The Chateau is a beautiful setting for any event and has long been a favorite of artists. It’s beautiful, elegant and subdued. So were some of the Loft fashions.  I liked much of what I saw.  There were a few misses like the 70’s faux fur shag vests and some over the top BIG jewelry, but overall I thought the collection was tasteful.   Clearly, Loft is trying to get a little more hip and trendy, and depart from the mothership, Anne Taylor. They may feel that Anne Taylor is established as a more mature brand with workplace suited looks.  Thus, the need to set the stage for the Loft Fall Collection at the always hip Chateau Marmont. I liked the beautiful looped ruffle front camisole tops they showed and the many flowy chiffon tops. Above is my favorite look, which is very Chanel reminiscent a collarless Tweed jacket with chain detail (price $148.00 US) , a flower pin (price $14.50) or brooch on the lapel, a chiffon loose top (price $44.50 US) and you are good to go.  I would skip the hat, but it I think it was meant to give the look that new, hip touch that the brand is striving for.

Another standout in the collection was the Tweed jacket with collar pictured above, although I would skip the faux fur overlay. We are not out to go fur trapping this fall, are we? No need to display pelts. I also liked the floral scarves and the many loose fitting cardigans shown, cinched with big and skinny great belts to show off the waist. There were attractive colorblock dresses priced at $89.50 and even over-the-knee riding boots in the style of Jimmy Choo and Stella McCartney.  The boots were the most expensive item in the collection, priced at $189.50. Other looks included sequin tops and leather minis.

One thing I think Loft has always excelled at is great costume jewelry.  For Fall they showed a ginormous rhinestone gem flower cuff ($39.50)  that I fell in love with and received in the goodie bag at the end of the night. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t pick such a large piece of bling for the wrist, but this one works because of the champagne color and delicate look of the gem. It’s big, but it’s not gaudy. There were also large costume necklaces on ribbons for ties, which is a trend coming back.  Which brings me to the giveaway here! Bling! Part of the Fall collection is this Gold and Black Angular necklace with ribbon tie.  Check it out below.  It’s a striking piece. The retail price is $49.50 US.

Thanks to blog reader Christine, I now have two more of the necklaces to giveaway.  Christine donated her Anne Taylor jewelry from the party to be used as part of this giveaway, which means there will now be 3 lucky winners!

Remember, if you like the looks at Loft always look for a coupon or discount code for shopping. I have found Loft to be very good at discounting their retail prices. No reason to pay retail, when you don’t have to!

Note: I did not receive any compensation from Anne Taylor Loft in exchange for this post. I received the two items of jewelry, pictured above, and a discount card (30% off) for shopping at the Loft. Al the items were presented  in the above pictured canvas bag, under the necklace in the picture,  at the end of the night.  By posting this, I am making  a full disclosure of items I received from the Loft at the Fall preview.
