Giveaway: Peter Walsh’s “It’s All Too Much” Book and DVD

messy closet cleaning Giveaway: Peter Walshs Its All Too Much Book and DVD
Pictured: The downside of shopping and fashion is “closet clutter.”

All good things must come to an end.  Sadly, the Memorial Day weekend is almost over.  Just a few more hours of holiday to go.  I have to give myself a small pat on the back today for doing a little Memorial Day cleaning and closet triage.  Tomorrow, I’ll be giving away old items to some charities and Goodwill.  A few choice fashion tidbits will go on eBay to help pay bills or save for a vacation. Did any of you doing any reorganizing or “decluttering” over the weekend? Please tell me I am not alone in my shambolical housecleaning or my need to keep favorite clothing items draped on a chair for easy access rather than hanging in the closet.  I mean, it’s so much easier to just go to the chair, and pick up an outfit, rather than open the closet and conduct a full scale search.

Obviously, I only took “baby steps.”  A couple months ago, OfficeMax was kind enough to give me a copy of Peter Walsh’s ( Peter is a cleaning superstar who has been on TLC’s Clean Sweep and Oprah. ) book and DVD called  “It’s All Too Much.”  Ironically, it was all too much for me at the time, and I never got around to doing a proper blog giveaway on it.  You know, it’s that work thing :)  The book was properly saved in the special The Recessionista collection, a unique dust gathering place on the lower shelf of my coffee table.  In my fit of cleaning and new found vacation organization fervor, I have “liberated” the book from my own clutter. So one lucky reader will win the book and one lucky reader will win the DVD. It’s a 2Fer! ( 2 for 1). Get ready to for tips, techniques and encouragement from expert Peter Walsh that will help you declutter every room of your home once and for all.  I mean why should Oprah get all the cleaning/decluttering help? Some of us non-celebrities need a cleaning intervention, right?

To enter to win, just leave a comment here by June 15th, midnight PST and let me know what your tips are for cleaning or organizing. Are you a procrastinator like me, or do you clean religiously? Inquiring minds want to know.   Please leave your email address like so (messy at yahoo dot com) in your comment so we can reach you if you are the lucky winner.

    GMTA :-)
Although I didn't get as “deep” into cleaning my closet as I'd hoped to this weekend, I did manage to pull together one bag of “nicer castoffs” to sell at my local consignment store.

I'm a huge believer in decluttering my closet. I think an overflowing closet just stifles creativity. You can't create interesting outfits from clothing that is buried under piles or stuffed at the back of a crammed rack. If my closet is pared down and organized it helps me shop wisely, too!

I try to spend 15 minutes a day de-cluttering and cleaning. I hate cleaning, so by doing it in small increments, I almost never have to spend a large chunk of time cleaning.

My tip for cleaning…especially if you're a procrastinator…first make a list of everywhere you can donate the items you get rid of. Having a good cause to clean (Salvation Army, pet supplies/blankets/towels to animal shelter, etc) helps me get motivated.
