With the Oscars just around the corner, it was perfect timing for Los Angeles based designer Monique Lhuillier to show her upcoming collection of red carpet ready gowns at New York Fashion Week. Above is my favorite dress from the collection. Although Monique Lhuillier is not low-priced, her studio in downtown Los Angeles has been know to have some amazing sales, particularly on wedding dresses. If you live in Los Angeles, or nearby, watch for her sales. I post them here on the blog for all of you to take advantage of.

The designer’s Fall 2010 collection was inspired by her travels to China. For an example, take a look at the above Chinois cocktail dress. Ms. Lhuillier summarized the collection as, “Strong silhouettes with a tough, chic edge. Long sleeves, high necks, strong shoulders with short skirts.” There was a touch of far east inspiration in the fabric and of course the “Shanghai” red. But to me, the collection still screamed Academy Awards more than anything. I can’t wait to see who wears Monique Lhuillier on the Red Carpet. Watch this space for news on her annual sample and bridal sales held at her shop Monique Lhuillier 1201 S. Grand Avenue, 2nd Floor Los Angeles, CA 90015.
