Fashion confession: I have become addicted to the new Burberry fashion social networking site, The Art of the Trench. Have you seen it? If not ,you have to check it out. Its not just eye candy with gorgeous pictures from The Sartorialist of people on the street wearing their classic Burberry trench coats, its ear candy with amazing acoustic music from The Kooks. And its free. What a beautiful concept.

Artofthetrench.com celebrates our iconic trench coat, capturing the emotional connection behind our distinctive outerwear heritage. Everybody has a different story related to their coat or the first time they came into contact with one – I love the idea that people from all over the world can share those stories and images with each other and all the different attitudes and expressions of the Burberry trench coat and the people who wear it,” notes Christopher Bailey, Burberry Creative Director.

Yes, Mr. Bailey that’s true, but I love the fashion inspirations I get from looking at the people in their coats. There are kids, seniors, fashionistas and just average Joes captured by inquiring photographer Scott Schuman aka The Sartorialist. I also like the social networking functionality of the site and the ability viewers have to vote on the different looks, all the while listening to the classic tunes from The Kooks. All for FREE!! 🙂 Nothing like listening to the Sofa Song while perusing the fashions, without leafing through the racks for the elusive sale. Here’s to the future of the trench. You’ve come a long way Baby!

If you check out the site, let me know what you think. Props to Burberry for showing us real people instead of only size zero models from the fashion runways. And when you’re done browsing the pictures, you can just crank up the sound and listen to The Kooks... as they sing “pretty, pretty, petticoats in all situations.” (Ooh La)
