Super Bowl Sunday for Non-Football Fans: A Few Alternatives

Yesterday, one of my best friends gleefully reminded me that this weekend was Super Bowl Sunday. Everyone who knows me, knows I don’t really care about watching the Superbowl. Am I alone in this? I think not. The whole experience is just not for me. I don’t care for the chips, dips, chicken wings, etc. festivities. So if you are one of the few, the proud, the non-football fan fashionistas, you may be looking for some better ways to spend your Sunday. Here are a few suggestions:

If you live in Los Angeles, check out the Clever boutique’s ” I Don’t Eat Buffalo Wings, Drink Budweiser and Watch Football Sale” shopping event. I love the title of this one. The boutique is offering a 25% off coupon to all those who come in tomorrow to shop the sale instead of watching the game. The coupon is attached here for our Recessionista readers. If you’re not in LA, check out their website.

In years, past , I have made it a point to visit some of the area’s most crowded venues on Super Bowl Sundays. Its always a great time to check out sales at the local mall. Typically, there is lots of parking and the mall is deserted. It’s my own private shopping event! Malls across America will be open and deserted. Lot’s of good deals abound for those looking for Valentine’s gifts. It’s a good day to take time to look for a great dress, top or special evening out outfit for the big day. Here are a few special sales for your consideration:

Arden B. has some great deals on Valentine’s wear for Recessionistas looking to stay fashionable on a budget. Get Free Shipping on all orders now through 2/14 when you use coupon code VDAY09.

Amazon also has some great specials organized by price for you to check out.

Check out the shopping clubs’ sales on our Recessionista’s Top Picks on the right side of the blog page.

Another Super Bowl Sunday survival tip is to check out a special movie or “chick flick.” Especially a newly opened movie, like Renee Zellweger’sNew in Town.” You won’t have to wait in a line to see it, and you can enjoy a discount on a bargain matinee showing.

For more great movies deals, check out Amazon’s Indie and International Movie titles sale. There are some great films here for 54% off of their retail prices. There are some great movies offered here like, “There Will Be Blood”, “The Queen” and “The Kite Runner.

If you’re not snowed in and are brave enough, it’s a great day to work out at your local gym or get a spa treatment. My gym is usually sparsely inhabited and there is no waiting for equipment or a swim lane.

And finally, if you’re not busy checking out the game, enter our Giveaway for the City Girl Apron. There’s still time to win this beautiful and fashionable cooking accessory! Visit the Shop Suey Boutique website to learn more about the City Girl Aprons and other fashion accessories.

Yes, I thought the anti-Superbowl shopping sale was a terrific idea.
What do you expect from a store named “CLEVER”. They definitely live up to their name :)
