Trader Joe’s Private Reserve Cabernet!
I’ve been meaning to blog on this one for awhile, as its a little gem at a VERY special price. Its from a great award winning winery in Sonoma & has been privately labeled as Trader Joe’s. This wonderful Cabernet sells for over $40.00 at its Sonoma Winery
, but for a limited time, you can enjoy if for just a little over $8.00!!! So what is the name of the winery? Its Mazzocco
, and that’s a fact because its printed on the back of the label.
Even if you’re not a Cabernet lover (I’m more a Pinot girl ala Miles in Sideways
) you can enjoy this one. There’s an aroma of black currants, red cherries and vanilla with a sweet overtone to the aromatics, with overtones of licorice. It lingers on the on the palate with a smooth transition to a finish of light cocoa flavors.
Here’s how Mazzocco winery described their 2004 Cabernet
: “Fragrant cassis, black cherry and cocoa notes tantalize the nose while the mid-palate is jam-packed with fleshy ripe tannins, blackberry, dark chocolate and tobacco flavors. The finish is well balanced integrating the ripe fruit with its plush tannins ending with hints of caramelized almonds, tea and accented with traces of forest floor.” Sounds good enough to drink!
The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma County
from Mazzoco won the Double Gold Medal – Best of Class – West Coast Wine Competition in 2007. Yes friends, finding this wine at Trader Joes is
LIKE finding Marc Jacob’s designer
Richard Chai on the Racks over at Tar-jay!!
So, hurry on out to TJ’s because this one won’t last long. Not all Trader Joe’s have it. I found mine at the 190th & Hawthorne TJ in Redondo Beach. I’m signing off now to go pour a big glass of vino and try to forget about this month’s gas bill!
