Forever 21 Launches a new Social Media Shopping Platform
Low-priced fashion retailer Forever 21 has launched a new social media/interactive shopping experience called 21st street. This is a savvy move on their part to reach the audience of teenagers and millennial buyers who not only like to shop, but share what their shopping finds with their friends via Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook or Twitter. The idea is that social sharing and word of mouth recommendations will boost sales quicker, and with more authority, than paid advertising. Zac Posen is partnering with David’s Bridal for a wedding dress collection
David’s Bridal is bringing in hot designer Zac Posen to create a six-gown collection of bridal dresses that will be sold online and in 50 stores February 2014. The line is not cheap but is lowered priced than many designer bridal gowns on the market today. Prices will range from $850 to $1,350, sizes from 0 to 26. Mr. Posen will also create five social occasion dresses (for bridesmaids or cocktail parties) in neutrals and one lavender-threaded silvery jacquard print priced from $195 to $225. Mr. Posen has already produced a Target collection and a lower-priced line for Saks Fifth Ave. The Zac Posen for Target collection was a bit of a disaster with cheap zippers and ill fitting garments that were poorly constructed. Here’s hoping his David’s Bridal Collection is better crafted and delivers quality for price. How will Zac Posen for David’s Bridal compare to David’s Bridal Vera Wang wedding gowns? Our spies tell us Zac Posen’s bridal gowns will be similar to his celebrity red carpet looks.

Charlotte Ronson’s new Starbucks Coffee Cup
Designer Charlotte Ronson has partnered with Starbucks to create a Limited Edition Coffee Mug. But this is no ordinary mug. This is a Starbucks Double Wall Ceramic Traveler, featuring a hand sketch and floral prints from Charlotte Ronson’s Spring 2013 collection. The fashionista styled mug is for sale online only before it hits stores at Starbucks.com for $14.95. The mug is attractive, but to me the best thing about it beyond it’s style, is that is it reusable and kind to Mother Earth. Think of all the paper cups with plastic tops that can be saved from going to landfills and garbage dumps.
Haute news! H&M has announced their next designer collaboration. Parisian designer Isabel Marant has been chosen to translate her boho-chic designs to affordable H&M fashions. Isabel Marant is known for her widely influential and successful take on Parisian chic. Her clothing is distinctive, but certainly not at outre as the last H&M designer, Maison Martin Margiela. Ms. Marant’s designs are a little bit funky, but at the same time very feminine and romantic. Her line mixes urban attitude, boho elegance, and a rock ‘n’ roll spirit to delivering French style. For H&M, Isabel Marant will create a wardrobe of must-have pieces inspired by her signature style. The collection will be available and online in 250 stores worldwide on November 14th, 2013, and will feature clothing and accessories for women and teenagers, as well as Isabel Marant’s first-ever collection for men. Since Isabel Marant’s clothing has always been price , with prices ranging from $500.00 and up, I predict many fashionistas will be drawn to H&M’s lower priced collection. The Harrods Sale is about to begin June 15th, 2013
The Harrod’s annual sale is about the start in London on Saturday June 15th, 2013 at the iconic store’s Knightsbridge location. In preparation for the sale, Harrods is teasing shoppers with the promise of a special performance before the doors open. On Saturday June 15 at 9am Harrods is planning a spectacular, surprise launch event that they say ” is certain to thrill and entertain awaiting customers outside Door 5, Hans Crescent.” I hope the prices are as good as the promised entertainment, that’s what would really thrill me!
