This is big–tomorrow, Feb. 8, 2016, Nordstrom launches an exclusive collection with one of fashion’s “It” girls Olivia Palermo. According to Nordstrom, “the ‘Olivia Palermo + Chelsea28′ collection features 32 styles of separates with roots in American sportswear staples, and dresses with a polished and feminine appeal. The collection looks as elegant and sleek as the styles Ms. Palermo is frequently photographed in. The garments range in price from $68 to $448, and will be available in 94 Nordstrom locations in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, as well as on online at Nordstrom. Read on to see some of our fashion favorites from this collection.

Marks and Spencer has announced a new fashion collaboration with super model Alexa Chung called “Archives by Alexa.” The fashion collaboration will be curated Alexa Chung and the M&S design team. The collection sounds a bit like Marks & Sparks greatest hits featuring 31 pieces from the Marks and Spencer company archive that will be refreshed with what the company calls ” a modern spin.” “I have always had an affection for Marks & Spencer. I am thrilled to be part of this special and unique project,” says Alexa. Based on the success of the M&S collection with Twiggy, this could be another hit. The initial preview picture of Ms. Chung in a ruffled collar pink blouse recalls the style of the young Lady Diana Spencer when she was a preppy Sloane Ranger and not yet the Princess of Wales. Look for “Archives by Alexa” in stores and online in April 2016. I’m looking forward to seeing what the 31 pieces from the M&S archive are….the teaser picture makes me very curious.
Paris Vogue Editor Carine Roitfeld is about to return to Uniqlo with a 94 piece fashion collection for Spring/Summer 2016. Last season’s collection sold briskly, with many of the coats and jackets selling out on day one of the Uniqlo x Carine Roitfeld launch. Our spies tell us the Uniqlo x Carine Roitfeld collection will be live on Uniqlo’s website on Feb. 10 at 9 pm EST/6 pm PST and in select stores on February 11th. As with the previous collection, we expect the fit to be smaller than standard US sizes and sized like European apparel, so if you order online you may want to size up or order 2 sizes and then return the one that doesn’t fit. Here’s a look at what’s on our shopping list from Carine Roitfeld Spring 2016 at Uniqlo. Continue reading
Target is trying to dive into the money-making skincare beauty industry with three new offerings. Marlow skincare, Mayfair soaps and You’re Amazing Bath and Beauty products. I’m not quite sure why Target thinks they can get into this niche and compete with the more established beauty, skincare brands and products already sold at Target like Pixi Beauty, La-Rouche Posay, Web MD and MeBath! It will be interesting to see if consumers want to try these out. Here’s a bit of information on each brand. I haven’t tried any of these brands and I stopped by my local Target but didn’t see them on the shelves. Continue reading
The Who What Wear fashion collaboration arrived at Target stores today and with very low expectations, I went to my local store to check it out. Overall, the Who What Wear collection at Target runs the gamut. There’s good, bad and just plain fugly here. Overall there are more misses than hits. However, there are a few things here that I do like very much. The Moto jackets, floral midi skirt and the jeans are very pleasant surprises. The dresses in the collection are the biggest misses as they lack structure or any kind of shape to give them a flattering fit. At my Target there was very little excitement among shoppers for this collection–the beauty and grocery store aisles were far more lively than the Who What Wear racks. My prediction is that much of this collaboration will end up on sale and on the clearance racks. However, some of these items won’t and these are the ones you might want to put into your shopping cart. Read on to see The Recessionista’s top picks from Who What Wear at Target.
Target’s collaboration with Fashion website Who What Wear is due in at stores and online tomorrow, Jan. 31, 2016. I’m waiting to see the collection on the racks to access it’s quality first hand. As all my readers (and Target shoppers know) the quality of Target’s fashion collaborations has been uneven. Depending on the off-shore factory that makes the garments, and the materials used, the results have ranged from widely successful like the Phillip Lim Target collection to lackluster. From the Who What Wear X Target Collection lookbook online, the floral skirts and moto jackets look promising, the rest of it, I’m not so sure about. Continue reading
Last year I reviewed Radical Skincare. The products are great and full of good and very active ingredients for moisturizing and anti-aging like 5 % Hyaluronic Acid in the Infusion Serum. When I reviewed the products, as effective as they are, I noted that they are pricey. But now you can try them on QVC for $50.00 for the starter kit. And these are not trial or sample sizes, they are full sizes. Continue reading
Derek Zoolander is back with Zoolander 2 and a VOGUE cover! The superstar model played by Ben Stiller heading to Theaters on February 12 with his ridiculously good looking features and his famous Blue Steel look. But wait there’s more…..Derek Zoolander is taking over VOGUE with a cover story shared with Zoolander 2 co-star Penelope Cruz. It’s beyond delicious. Personally, I would’ve loved to have seen Owen Wilson as Hans on the VOGUE cover, but that may have been asking too much. It’s the best Zoolander marketing gimmick since Hans and Derek showed up on the Valentino runway last season at Paris Fashion Week. Look for more of Ben Stiller posing as Zoolander in a commercial for FIAT and an upcoming Cîrcoc advert. Continue reading
You may have seen the couple behind Saavy Naturals this week on Shark Tank and be wondering are the products any good? Well, the answer is yes, they are amazing. The most amazing thing about all the products is their enticing scents. I have been using the Mango Papaya and Green Tea and Lime soaps for a few months. An added bonus is the bars of soap make the whole bathroom smell great. They add to the decor too with their colorful and very generous sized bars displayed in a nice soap dish. Best of all there is no soapy build-up or residue after washing your hands or your body with Saavy Naturals. The only thing that lingers after using the product, is the light fruity fragrance on your skin. Continue reading
